After Da Nang and Quang Nam Province ease travel restriction on showing certificates of negative test results for SARS-CoV-2 with the validity within 72 hours, every day, there are many vehicles moving back and forth between the two localities, leading to traffic congestion at checkpoints, especially during peak hours.

On Saturday morning, October 16, congestions were reported at a checkpoint set up at an entrance gate to Quang Nam Province on Tran Hung Dao Street in Dien Ngoc Ward, Dien Ban Town; and checkpoints at gate to/out of Da Nang on Tran Dai Nghia Street, Ngu Hanh Son District and on National Highway 1A in Hoa Phuoc Commune, Hoa Vang District.  Accordingly, thousands of cars and motorbikes lined up for kilometers waiting for handling procedures to enter the two localities.

As noted, travellers must show either permanent/temporary residence registration cards or identification cards proving that they are citizens of Da Nang and Quang Nam Province, or local authorities-granted certificates confirming frequent travel, to be eligible for travelling between the two localities.

In addition, people must make medical declarations, as well as make commitments that they did not go anywhere but Da Nang and Quang Nam Province within the past 14 days. Also, they have to strictly comply with the Health Ministry-mandated 5K recommendations.

Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Duy Hoang, Deputy Head of the Traffic Police Station at the Hoa Hai Gate said: "Due to the large number of passersby at the aforementioned checkpoints, we have to deploy more personnel to check personal papers and scan QR codes in a bid to prevent congestion”.

He remarked given the fact that many people did not actively make medical declarations with QR codes in advance, congestions were reported at these checkpoints.
