Da Nang logs 37 additional COVID-19 infections on Nov.21, including 8 acquired in community

Da Nang recorded 37 new cases of COVID-19 on Sunday, November 21, eight of which were logged in the community, seven found in centralised quarantine facilities, 19 during mandatory at-home quarantine, one in a locked-down residential site and the remaining two quarantine checkpoints set up at the city’s gateways, the municipal Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control confirmed.

Below is need-to-know information on the eight community-based cases:

There was a community-acquired patient permanently residing on Trung Luong Street 18, Hoa Xuan Ward, Cam Le District. This person tested positive for the coronavirus at Cam Le District-based Tam Tri Hospital following the displaying of some suspicious symptoms.

A resident on Phan Van Dinh Street, Hoa Khanh Bac Ward, Lien Chieu District was confirmed to be infected with the virus after having come into contact with a previously-confirmed COVID-19 patient.

Another was found in K151 Au Co, Hoa Khanh Bac Ward, having come to the Hoa Khanh Clinic for COVID-19 testing due to previous exposure to an infection.

Two residents in K114 Phan Van Dinh, Hoa Khanh Bac Ward were diagnosed with the highly contagious disease caused by the virus. The duo tested positive for the virus at the Lien Chieu Medical Centre.

A returnee to Da Nang from the coronavirus-stricken Ho Chi Minh City was confirmed to contract the virus via a test at the Cam Le District Medical Centre.

An infection was detected on Ly Tu Trong Street, Thach Thang Ward, Hai Chau District following a test conducted at the private Thien Nhan Clinic.

The last community-based case was documented on Thanh Son Street, Thanh Binh Ward, Hai Chau District.

The cases recorded on Sunday were linked 14 chains of infection, 11 of which are highly transmissible.

In particular, 21 out of the 37 cases of COVID-19 in were likely to spread to the community, recorded in six out of the total seven districts, namely Lien Chieu with six cases, Hai Chau with five, Hoa Vang with four, Thanh Khe and Son Tra with two each, Cam Le with one and the remaining one from outside the city.

Also on Friday, a combined total of 6,131 local residents across the city had their nasal swab samples taken for COVID-19 testing, 5,253 of whom tested for the virus via the RT-PCR technique whilst the rest were subject to the rapid antigen testing.

Up to now, 1,514,384 out of the already received 1,512,916 COVID-19 vaccine doses have been administered to Da Nang residents.

Of the vaccinated people throughout Da Nang, 914,985 have received the first shots of COVID-19 vaccines whilst 599,399 have got the second jabs against the highly contagious disease.

There are currently 87 completely- blockaded residential areas, putting 976 households with a combined total of 3,928 people under lockdown.

A combined total of 834 people are put under compulsory quarantine in 18 centralised facilities.

Da Nang has recorded 503 infections, 70 of which were returnees from other cities and provinces nationwide, since October 16.
