Heatwave grips Mid-Central region till May 15
Viet Nam’s National Center for Hydro-meteorological Forecasting has said that the parts from Quang Binh to Quang Ngai, including Da Nang, are reeling under heatwave conditions as maximum temperatures are in the bracket of 32-35 degree Celsius in some places.
Hot weather will linger in these areas, including Da Nang, until Sunday, May 15.
The National Weather Service predicts showers and thunderstorms in North Central Coast and Mid-central region, including Da Nang, from May 15 to 16, and the temperature can go down to 27-31 degree Celsius.
Northern midland and mountainous region is poised to receive moderate to heavy rainfall till Sunday, May 15 during the late afternoon and night hours with extremely heavy rain likely in some places.
The total rainfall amount will be 150mm-300mm in common in the region while more than 400mm of rain could fall in some places.
Forecasters have also issued warnings of flash floods and landslides for mountainous areas in the Northern region, and localized flooding alerts are in place in low-lying and riverside areas.
Sunshine is forecast for the parts from Da Nang to Binh Thuan on Thursday with the chance of showers and thunderstorms during late afternoon and night hours in some places. Thunderstorms can produce tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong winds. Southeast winds levels 2 to 3 may reach these areas. Temperatures in these areas can expect lows of 25 to 28 degrees Celsius and highs of 31 to 34 degrees Celsius,even above 35 degrees Celsius in some places.
