Central Viet Nam branch of the Ha Noi Urban Environment Limited Company – URENCO, in coordination with other relevant agencies, is building up plans to pilot a highly practical campaign under which fishermen will swap their collected trash for gifts at the Tho Quang fishing port, Son Tra District, Da Nang.

It is expected that, from October 2022, ship owners and crew members can take scrap paper, used plastic products, metal trash and other types of garbage to the port-based garbage-for-gifts points. They will receive cashes or useful items such as hand sanitizer, laundry detergent powder and cloth bags for sorting garbage.

The above-mentioned campaign aims to raise the public awareness of disposing of trash in the right place as well as sorting and recycling waste in a convenient and time-saving manner.

Since the launch of garbage collection at the Tho Quang fishing pork, the Central Viet Nam branch of URENCO has fully mobilised vehicles such as trucks, garbage compactors, excavators, motor boats, along with sufficient human resources to conduct regular sanitation cleanups.

Also, the spraying of Chloramine B has been conducted to disinfect the entire fishing port, handle bacteria and larvae as well as eliminate long-standing odors in order to reduce water and air pollution.

In addition, URENCO has actively cooperated with other competent units to regularly inspect, supervise and handle environmental pollution cases, and thanks to this, the issue of indiscriminate littering at the port has been reduced significantly.
