Electronic toll collection systems to be installed along Da Nang - Quang Ngai Expressway before July 31
The State-owned Viet Nam Expressway Corporation (VEC) has already inked a contract with the Tasco JSC to install electronic toll collection (ETC) systems along the VEC-invested expressways of Cau Gie - Ninh Binh, Da Nang - Quang Ngai, Noi Bai - Lao Cai and Ho Chi Minh City - Dau Giay. The installation of the ETC systems is slated to be completed before July 31.

Under the contract, Tasco will be hire by VEC to install and operate a total of 155 ETCs featuring radio wave identification (RFID) technology at a total value of more than VND694 billion from the collection of tolls from vehicles travelling on the above-mentioned expressways.
Upon the installation, Tasco will operate the ETC systems on the 4 expressways in 5 years. After that, the contractor will hand over them to VEC.
ETC systems charge a toll to users without requiring any action or stopping by the driver. The system debits the accounts of registered car owners or identifies the license plate for later billing, without requiring vehicles to stop. ETC lanes improve the speed and efficiency of traffic flow and save drivers time.
It is known that VEC was assigned by the Vietnamese Ministry of Transport to be the investor of the construction, management and operation of 5 expressway projects, namely Cau Gie - Ninh Binh, Noi Bai - Lao Cai, Da Nang - Quang Ngai, Ben Luc - Long Thanh and Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay.
Vehicles are now highly recommended to be equipped with automatic toll payment tags (etags) to make them eligible to use the ETC systems.
Accordingly, vehicles can contact two units that are licensed by the competent authorities to be equipped with etags.
They are VETC Automatic Toll Collection Company Limited (VETC Card) with phone number 84 1900 6010 and the Viet Nam Digital Transport Joint Stock Company (ePass Card) with phone number 84 1900 9080.
