Police in Da Nang’s Hoa Vang District have successfully broken up an illegal drug trafficking ring, arresting 2 subjects and seizing about 100 grams of drugs of all kinds.

Earlier, at 6:30 pm on June 12, the Drug-related Crime Investigation Police Team under the Hoa Vang District Police Division caught red-handed Ho Ngoc Ky, 28, residing in Xuan Ha Ward, Thanh Khe District, illegally trading drugs while being on patrol in Hoa Chau Commune’s Cam Nam Village. A total of 12 ecstasy pills and 3 packs of ketamine were seized.

When searching Ky's home located on Tran Cao Van Street in Thanh Khe District, the Drug-related Crime Investigation Police Team discovered Le Van Dat, 26, hailing from Quang Ngai Province, living in the same house with Ky.

During an emergency search of the subjects' residences, police officers seized 15 more packages of ketamine-type drugs and 16 ecstasy pills. The total weight of drugs seized in the special case was about 100 grams.

The case is still under further investigation.

Also on the same day, police in the Crime Investigation Division of the Da Nang Department of Public Security issued temporary arrest warrants for 22-year-old Cao Nguyen Hoang Duy, a resident of Khue Trung Ward, Cam Le District, for the trading and illegal use of drugs, and 31-year-old Tran Quoc Duong, a resident of Hoa Xuan Ward, Cam Le District, for organising illegal drug use.

Previously, through monitoring, scouts of Team 2 under the Drug-related Crime Investigation Police Division under the municipal Department of Public Security noticed Duy with suspicious signs.

Immediately, heads of the Drug-related Crime Investigation Police Division directed the scouts to follow Duy's movements closely.

In early June, 2022, the division established a special case and Team 2 were in charge of the case.

After investigations, scouts discovered that, in addition to the aforementioned karaoke bar, Duy also requisitioned a room on Huy Can Street, Khue Trung Ward, Cam Le District, as a place to live as husband and wife with a woman from outside the city and to conduct illegal drug trading activities.

On June 8, through the investigation and monitoring process, the scouts received information that Duy had just received a large amount of drugs and went to a karaoke bar on Le Thanh Nghi Street to try them.

After that, detectives from the Drug-related Crime Investigation Police Division and police in Hai Chau District’s Hoa Cuong Nam Ward came in and caught red-handed Duy and two other subjects using drugs. Also, a pack of ketamine and some tools and means for organizing illegal drug use were seized at the scene.

When conducting an emergency search of Duy's residence on Huy Can Street, police officers seized an additional 68 ecstasy pills and about 30 grams of ketamine, and one kilogram of urine.

Then, police consolidated the evidence to conduct the urgent arrest warrant for Tran Quoc Duong for organising the illegal use of narcotics.
