Warning issued over risk of large-scale forest fires
The Da Nang Forest Protection Department on Tuesday issued a warning about the risk of forest fires at alarming level 5, the highest level in the city, due to recent prolonged and large-scale summer heatwaves.
Accordingly, the department asked authorities at local level to take wildfire prevention and fighting measures, and issue a ban on burning vegetation.
Forest ranger divisions and forest management boards were asked to promptly inform forest fire warnings to agencies, units and residential communities in forested areas, prepare human resources and forest firefighting tools, and promptly report the situation of forest fires to the district-level authorities and the municipal Forest Protection Department.
Moreover, the functional bodies were urged to increase their regular monitoring and inspections over forest owners for their observance of regulations on wildfire prevention and fighting.
Also, importance is attached to closely working with the management boards of eco-tourism areas to monitor and remind tourists of fire prevention and safety when traveling in forests, as well as strictly handle violations of forest fire prevention and fighting.
