Da Nang - Quang Ngai Expressway ready for non-stop toll collection from early Aug.

The Viet Nam Expressway Corporation (VEC) said on Tuesday that, till date, most of expressways nationwide, including the Da Nang-Quang Ngai route, have completed their preparations for automated non-stop toll collection through electronic toll collection (ETC) system.

From July 19 - 25, VEC piloted the operation of ETC on four expressways, namely Phap Van - Cau Gie - Ninh Binh, Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay, Noi Bai - Lao Cai, and Da Nang - Quang Ngai.

Up to now, the preparatory works for the automatic non-stop toll collection at the expressways nationwide have been basically completed, including granting ETC payment tags (e-tags) for vehicle owners, and measures to handle vehicles travelling on expressways without an e-tags or having enough money in their accounts to pay tolls.

According to VEC, the four aforementioned expressways have all completed the installation of ETC system and rehearsal of automated non-stop toll collection at 155 toll lanes. Full automated non-stop toll collection will officially start on these expressways from early August.

Also starting from August 1, vehicles that are not eligible to travel on expressways such as not having e-tags or no money in accounts will be handled in the troubleshooting lanes.

Meanwhile, the Viet Nam Electronic Toll Collection Company (VETC) has deployed free e-tag granting points on the 4 abovementioned expressways. Ineligible vehicle will have e-tags granted and their e-accounts topped up at the toll booths.
