500 medical experts discuss interventional cardiology
More than 500 medical experts at home and abroad recently attended the Viet Nam Interventional Cardiology Association-organised 8th National Interventional Cardiology conference themed ‘Develop solutions for Practice Challengers’ in Da Nang.
The event featured 27 scientific discussion sessions and 160 reports presented. There were two international sessions conducted by the Viet Nam Society of Interventional Cardiology (VSIC) in collaboration with the The Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions (SCAI) and the Asia-Pacific Society of Interventional Cardiology (APSIC).
Recent statistics show that, in Viet Nam, non-communicable diseases account for 66% of the total and 72% of total deaths, of which cardiovascular diseases account for 30%. It is alarming that deaths from cardiovascular diseases are mainly premature deaths due to not having timely intervention.
The conference was a forum for interventional cardiologists nationwide to update new knowledge and the most advanced techniques being applied in the world in the treatment of cardiovascular diseases.
