148 Lao students join Da Nang homestay programme 2023

A total of 148 Lao students studying at universities in Da Nang have joined a two-week homestay programme in the city in 2023.

Specifically, they are arranged to live with host families in the districts of Thanh Khe, Lien Chieu, Son Tra, Hai Chau, Ngu Hanh Son and Cam Le from November 26 - December 10.

The homestay programme for Laotian students are co-organised by the Da Nang Union of Friendship Organisations, the city branch of the Viet Nam - Laos Friendship Association, the Consulate General of Laos in Da Nang, the municipal Women Union, the district-level authorities, associations, unions, and member schools of the University of Da Nang.

Speaking at the reception ceremony for Lao students on Sunday, Mr. Ho Ky Minh, Vice Chairman of the Da Nang People's Committee cum Chairman of the city branch of the Viet Nam - Laos Friendship Association, said that the programme is designed to help Lao students familiarise themselves with daily activities in Vietnamese families, gain a deeper insight into the culture of Vietnamese people, and enhance their Vietnamese language proficiency as well. This will help strengthen the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Viet Nam - Laos in general, and between Da Nang and the south and central provinces of Laos in particular.

Lao Consul General in Da Nang Souphanh Hadaoheuang highlighted the meaningfulness of the homestay programme for Lao students in helping them have more relatives to accompany and share while studying and living in Da Nang.

Also at the programme, each of the Lao participants received VND1 million in financial supports.
