Mor Café - One of Da Nang's best places to enjoy Sai Gon-style coffee
Racket coffee is also called simmered coffee. As its special name, this kind of coffee is filtered through a fabric racket and then is simmered by a clay pot.
The name ‘Racket coffee’ might seem strange to many people but it has been famous and popular in Ho Chi Minh City.
Now, coffee lovers can try this Sai Gon-style coffee at the Mor nestled in a small alley No 385A/24 Nguyen Van Linh Street in Da Nang.
Ms Linh Lan, the owner of the Mor café, said that she lived in Ho Chi Minh City for several years and had the opportunity to try this special kind of coffee at a long-standing shop on Phan Dinh Phung Street in Phu Nhuan Ward, HCMC. She gradually began to love this Sai Gon-style coffee, and decided to open her own Sai Gon-style coffee shop in her hometown in Da Nang.
Lan said the way of making racket coffee is not complicated but you should pay the attention to the process. The coffee powder is put into a cloth racket and dipped into the boiling water. After that, the coffee will be poured into a clay pot and boiled at low temperature. The step makes the coffee always hot as well as keeps its flavor stronger and more delicious.
In addition to racket coffee, the Mor café offers a varied drinks menu to satisfy its guests, including black glutinous rice coffee, rose lychee tea and other irresistibly delicious drinks at reasonable prices.
Mor Café has both outdoor and indoor spaces. The exposed brick walls on the interior of the cafe gives off an industrial and vintage vibe to the cafe, whilst the flowers from the florist add a pop of colour. Its location makes it seem as if it’s on the outskirts of a town.
Additionally, Mor Café boasts quiet and orderly spaces which allow customers to concentrate to get their work done or read a good book.
Mor café opens daily from 7.30am - 9.30pm.
