Vietjet opens new route from Ho Chi Minh City to Malaysia

Budget carrier Vietjet Air is celebrating the launch of a nonstop flight from Ho Chi Minh City to Kuala Lumpur with plans to offer promotional tickets.

Vietjet flights from the Vietnamese city to the Malaysian capital are now available daily, with a flight duration of one hour 55 minutes, the airline said on Wednesday.

According to the budget carrier, passengers on the inaugural flight yesterday from Ho Chi Minh City to Kuala Lumpur enjoyed traditional Malaysian dances performed by Vietjet dancers and received special gifts from the airline’s flight attendants.

Passengers departed from Ho Chi Minh City at 9:30 am and arrive in Kuala Lumpur at 12:25 pm. Return flights took off from Kuala Lumpur at 1:00 pm and touched down in Ho Chi Minh City at 1:55 pm.

To celebrate the new route, Vietjet has launched a promotional campaign called ‘Enjoy Your Summer’ with hundreds of thousands of tickets being sold at the minimum price of US$0 from Tuesday to Thursday, between 12:00 pm and 2:00 pm.

The promotion is applicable to all tickets on the airline’s routes between August 15 and December 31, excluding public holidays, the carrier noted.

Currently, the airline owns a fleet of 36 aircraft made up of A320s and A321s, and operates 250 flights each day servicing 50 domestic and regional routes including to Thailand, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, China, Myanmar and Malaysia.

Vietjet has carried over 20 million passengers to date.
