Over 140 trillion VND for North-South expressway's first phase

More than 140 trillion VND (6.2 billion USD) will be used for the 1st phase construction of the North-South Expressway linking Ha Noi and Ho Chi Minh City.

The State will fund about 55 trillion VND (2.4 billion USD) for the 684 km road in the 1st phase, which will be carried out from 2017-2022.

Four-lane roads with 17m in width will be built for Mai Son (Ninh Binh Province) - Bai Vot (Ha Tinh Province) and Cam Lam (Khanh Hoa Province) - Phan Thiet (Binh Thuan Province) sections under the public-private partnership (PPP) form and Cam Lo (Quang Tri Province)-La Son section (Thua Thien-Hue Province) under the build-transfer (BT) form.

The Phan Thiet (Binh Thuan Province)-Dau Giay (Dong Nai Province) section will also have four lanes, 25m in width and be constructed under the PPP form.

About 688 km of roads are expected to be built in the 2nd phase from 2023-2028 at a cost of more than 103 trillion VND (4.5 billion USD).

The construction of the 3rd phase will be carried out after 2028 with investment of over 69 trillion VND (3.04 billion USD).
