Da Nang is redoubling its efforts to complete preparations for the APEC Economic Leaders’ Week (AELW), slated for early November.

Secretary of the municipal Party Committee Truong Quang Nghia said that since the organisation of the forthcoming AELW is a big opportunity to make the city further known by the world.  Local relevant agencies are swiftly completing preparations.

Located in the downtown area of Da Nang, Hai Chau District is using all resources on ensuring urban order and environment on key roads serving the large-scale international event. In addition, authorised forces have been carrying out regular examinations, even on Saturdays and Sundays, to raise public awareness of law adherence.

Meanwhile, Son Tra District, a tourist magnet and a venue of many events during the Week, has paid attention to enhancing communication skills for tourism workers. Inspection teams have also been sent to examine goods and services sold in this district.

Deputy Director of the Da Nang Department of Tourism Nguyen Xuan Binh said that Son Tra is a tourism hub of the city with a total of over 250 hotels and 100 other accommodation establishments. Therefore, the regular update of knowledge will help raise the awareness of tourism officials and workers. The district is also stepping up communications to encourage local residents to be ready to welcome guests with their hospitality.

The AELW is scheduled to take place in Da Nang from 6 to 11 November . The event will bring together around 10,000 delegates from 21 APEC member economies.

Established in 1989, APEC comprises Australia, Brunei, Canada, Chile, China, Hong Kong (China), Indonesia, Japan, the Republic of Korea, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Peru, the Philippines, Russia, Singapore, Chinese Taipei, Thailand, the US, and Viet Nam.
