In the spotlight of the trips made by the Da Nang government officials were forums on trade and investment promotion held in the USA’s San Francisco and Canada’s Toronto.

These events were attended by a large number of honour guests, investors, businesspeople and representatives of concerned associations in these 2 foreign countries.

During these forums, the Da Nang guests highlighted their locality’s investment attraction policies and its potential. Deputy Director of the Da Nang Investment Promotion and Support Board Huynh Lien Phuong, one of the Da Nang visitors, happily said US and Canadian investors highly appreciated and showed their special interest in the city’s policies for attracting FDI inflows into its Hi-tech and IT parks.

Addressing the forum held in Toronto, Secretary Nghia confirmed that it is high time to create a new wave of Canadian investment into Da Nang, and into Viet Nam as a whole, in such aspects as hi-tech, IT, commerce and education. Great opportunities are created by the signed Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP), and strong impacts brought by the 4th Industrial Revolution on Viet Nam’s development and its increasingly integration in the global economy.

As part of their trip to Canada, the Da Nang delegation also had working sessions with officials from the Embassy of Viet Nam in Canada and the Toronto Economic Development and Culture Division in a bid to seek new bilateral cooperation opportunities.

The city party chief also asked for help from the San Francisco government and the US business community to advertise the images of Da Nang and appeal for foeign investment into the city’s aspects such as hi-tech, IT, clean industry, logistics, tourism, trading, and education.

The Da Nang delegation also visited the Embassy of Viet Nam in the USA, and the Allied Telesis Holdings and Advantech companies in the Silicon Valley, the State of California, the USA. The purpose was to appeal for these businesses to invest into the city’s smart infrastructure.

The Da Nang guests also paid a courtesy visit to Chairman of the Council of the Oakland City. During the meeting, the hosts and the guests agreed to foster the bilateral friendship and cooperation between the 2 localities in the coming time, especially in the aspect of seaport development.

As for their stay in Cuba, the Da Nang delegation met with Head of the Department of External Relations under the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba (CPC) Jose Ramon Balaguer.

The city Party chief also stressed that the visit aims to concretise the results attained during the visit to Cuba made by Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong in March, thus expanding the bilateral relations in a more practical manner.

Also in Cuba, the Da Nang delegation laid wreath of flowers at a monument dedicated to the late President Ho Chi Minh in the capital city of La Habana, and visited the Embassy of Viet Nam in Cuba, and some typical cultural and economic establishments in this country.
