The Da Nang Port has created many favourable conditions to attract a large number of ships carrying crew members, passengers and cargo, especially international cruise ships.
Particularly, between January and September 2018, the port welcomed 71 cruise ship arrivals with a total of 86,000 passengers onboard, a jump of 71% against the same period last year.
The increased presence of such many luxury cruise ships as Costa Atlantica, Genting Dream and World Dream, has affirmed the port’s position in regional and global tourism maps.
The staff of the Da Nang Port Border Gate guard station have effectively handled entry, exit, and transit procedures, in a quickly fashion, for cruise ships carrying foreign passengers.
According to Mr Nguyen Tat Thuong from the city’s branch of Destination-Asia, which specialises in arranging cruise ship arrivals to the city, the cruise ship passengers arriving in the city have always felt very comfortable and pleased with the professional working attitude of the staff of the Da Nang Port’s border gate guard station in the prompt yet effective handling of administrative procedures.
Lieutenant Colonel Vu Minh Thanh, the Commander of the Da Nang Port Border Gate guard station said, amid a rapidly growing number of ships docking at the Da Nang Port, his agency has become more actively engaged in thoroughly grasping and effectively implementing electronic port border-gate procedures and the national one-door customs mechanism, and shortening the time taken to handle entry and exit procedures for ships as well.
Under the one-door customs mechanism, all businesses operating in the field of sea transport will complete procedures relating to exit and entry activities and sea vessels in transit as well as freight information at the national one-door portal https://www.vnsw.gov.vn.
Furthermore, heed has been paid to promoting the application of information technology, and the utility of technical equipment in the mornitoring of ships, crew members, passengers and cargo transported through the port.
It is noticeable that 2 long-distance CCTV systems, and an automatic identification system (AIS) which is an automatic tracking system that uses transponders on ships and is used by vessel traffic services (VTS) have been put into use. Thanks to these, the entry and exit procedures are strictly handed in a clear and transparent manner, in accordance with the national regulations.
The municipal Border Guard High Command’s staff have effectively handled entry, exit and transit procedures for more than 70 ship arrivals, carrying a combined total of 1.34 million crew members, and 857,000 passengers onboard.
Alongside, checks have been conducted on 28,200 ship arrivals on inland waterway transportation routes carrying more than 306,000 crew members, plus 25.8 million tonnes of cargo and 51,000 m3 of timber.
