Da Nang, Vietnam Airlines sign comprehensive cooperation agreement on boosting aviation development

The Da Nang government and Vietnam Airlines, on Friday afternoon, entered into a comprehensive cooperation agreement for the 2023-2027 period.

Under the deal, during the 5-year period, the two sides will promote tourism promotion, commercial investment, aviation and destinations, especially promoting the post-pandemic restoration of the aviation sector in particular and the tourism industry in general.

Additionally, importance will be attached to developing policies to support and prioritise the effective use of each other's products and services, strengthening image promotion, and affirming the cooperation role between the city and Vietnam Airlines. The purpose is to realise the target of being a comprehensive partner of each other in the process of operation and development.

In principle, the cooperation is based on four principles: comprehensive cooperation in tourism, commercial investment, aviation, and destination promotion between Da Nang and Vietnam Airlines.

The comprehensive cooperation between the two sides must ensure the principle of voluntariness and mutual benefit in the spirit of mutual support, and synchronisation, show professionalism and bring the highest efficiency.

Every year, the two sides will prepare a report to evaluate the implementation of the cooperation agreement to draw lessons from each other’s experiences and develop plans for the coming years.

In her remarks at the signing ceremony, municipal People’s Committee Vice Chairwoman Ngo Thi Kim Yen remarked after Viet Nam fully reopened for international tourism in mid-March, Vietnam Airlines quickly resumed 7 out of the 8 domestic air routes and 3 out of the 16 international air routes to Da Nang, keeping maintain its role as an effective bridge between the city and domestic and foreign destinations.

Vice Chairwoman Yen said that on the basis of evaluating the effectiveness of the cooperation agreement for the 2018-2022 period, the cooperation agreement between the Da Nang People's Committee and Vietnam Airlines during the 2023-2027 period has been upgraded to become a comprehensive cooperation in the fields of investment, trade, tourism and services in combination with boosting the application of information technology in order to improve the effectiveness of marketing activities.

Mrs. Yen expressed her delight at fruitful results from the cooperation deal between the two sides during the 2018-2022 period.

Mr. Trinh Ngoc Thanh, Deputy General Director of Vietnam Airlines expressed over the past years, Vietnam Airlines has actively cooperated with Da Nang to organize large-scale tourism, investment and trade promotion events at national and international level. The unit has opened many new routes and lured a large number of tourists to the city.

He highlighted that the comprehensive cooperation agreement signed today was a continuation of the good and extensive cooperation tradition between Vietnam Airlines and Da Nang, as well as opened up new development steps for bilateral cooperation.

“With the strengths of Da Nang and the potential of Vietnam Airlines, we believe that cooperation will promote good effects and bring positive results” Mr Thanh added.

Also during the signing ceremony, the Da Nang People's Committee awarded Certificate of Merit for the city branch of Vietnam Airlines Corporation - Vietnam Regional Joint Stock Company in recognition of its outstanding achievements in 2022.

As of early March 2023, Da Nang had a total of 24 direct air routes, including 8 domestic and 16 international ones. The city welcomes a daily average of 100-120 flights per day. Particularly, Vietnam Airlines operates 7 out of the 8 domestic routes to Da Nang from Ha Noi, Ho Chi Minh City, Can Tho, Hai Phong, Da Lat, Nha Trang and Buon Ma Thuot.

There are 3 out of the 16 international routes connecting Da Nang with Bangkok with the frequency of 4 flights/week; and Incheon with the frequency of 7 flights per week.

Flights between Da Nang and Narita are expected to resume from March 26, 2023, with the frequency of 4 flights per week. Starting from July, 2023, the figure will increase to 7 flights per week.
