'Cau Ngu' Festival on until tomorrow
The annual ‘Cau Ngu’ Festival for Da Nang fishermen is taking place at Nguyen Tat Thanh Beach in Thanh Khe District’s Xuan Ha Ward daily from 8.00am - 9.00pm until 23 February. The 3-day event features numerous solemn rituals, along with various exciting cultural and sporting activities.
The festival began yesterday with a wide range of fascinating activities, and together they attracted a great deal of attention from residents and visitors. Included were a beach football match, a drawing contest entitled ‘I Love My Homeland's Sea, Islands and Festivals’, and a camp fire at night.

Today (22 February), visitors will be treated to various cultural activities such as ‘bai choi’ (singing while acting as playing cards), a stick-pushing competition, and a raw fish dish-making contest entitled ‘Sea-flavoured Tray’.
Early tomorrow morning (23 February), solemn rituals will be held to honour the God of the Sea and to pray for peace, happiness and prosperity throughout the year, as well as for a successful fishing season ahead. In addition, there will be several exciting competitions such as fishing net knitting, tug-of-war, and coracle racing. During the day, some of the Clipper Race crew members will participate in the fascinating festive events.
