Under the project, over 11 billion VND will be spent on decorating the 1,300m-long embankment with pictures which reflect local cultural characteristics. The embankment is along a section of Vo Nguyen Giap between its intersections with Vo Van Kiet and Nguyen Van Thoai. Included will be images showcasing the unique characteristics of the homeland, the daily lives of local residents now and in the past, and the city’s beautiful landscapes through the eyes of children. Each picture will have a minimum length of between 5m and 10m.
The first phase of the project, featuring a 500m-long decoration, will be started on 16 March and is expected to be completed on 30 April. Artists from the Song Hoai (Hoai River) Ceramics company have already developed plans for the project. The decoration is expected to become an important landmark amongst a series of city activities in preparation for the APEC Economic Leaders’ Week 2017.
Addressing the signing ceremony, Vice Chairman Dung highlighted the significance of the project in making the city more beautiful, and in appealing for local residents and visitors to join efforts to protect the city’s beach environment. He remarked, “The project is a pioneer in implementing the city’s cultural projects under the public-private partnership (PPP) format. It reflects the responsibility and great devotion of local businesses towards the city’s progress”.
