Thanks to advantageous fact, many mural painting groups across the city have received many orders of this burgeoning service. Such groups consist of young members who are graduates or undergraduates at local educational establishments of arts and architecture, having passions for paintings.
Material used to create murals is quite diversified, including watercolour, and oil paint, and acrylics.
Depending on the tastes of their clients, the painters choose which type of paints suitable for the drawing space and such surfaces such as cement walls, wood, iron and glass.
CL.artch, a 4-member drawing group led by young experienced painter Nguyen Quang Trung has is now busy completing decorative murals utilising many different materials at kindergartens, restaurants, coffee shops, bars, spas, hotels, and homestays across the city.
The prices of the fresco paintings depend on their size, genre, materials, and colour.
According to Trung, in order to ensure the progress and quality of murals during pre-Tet period, the number of daily working hours has increased to between 10 and 12.
Like Trung’s, the 6-member Da Nang Mural Painting group, headed by 26-year-old Tran Duy Van is also pouring time and efforts in implementing large and small-scale mural projects for Tet.
“On average, our group receives about 10 orders per month, and will spend for 20 - 25 days in a row to completed all of them”, Van revealed.

It is known that, apart from Da Nang inhabitants, those in some neighbouring localities such as Tam Ky and Hoi An, both in Quang Nam Province, also show their keen interest in such an impressive type of arts.
To vividly demonstrate the Tet ambience, the wall paintings feature the image of apricot and peach blossoms, ‘ao dais’ (traditional Vietnamese long dress), green glutinous rice cakes, cartoon characters, beautiful nature, and the words “Happy New year”.
According to mural painters, during the creation of the murals the surrounding has also been taken into account in order to keep the colours in harmony with the neighbouring buildings and trees.
In particular, climate changes can affect the drying rate of materials as well as the mural’s exposure to certain types of weather and extreme temperatures. An understanding of the specific climatic conditions of each individual project will help artists choose the right time to work and the right materials to work with.
The mural artists hope that their works will transform such areas as coffee shops and restaurants into highly-impressive cultural spaces. Besides satisfying their great passion for arts, reaping more income from their paintings, young painters are always happy to create the jubilant spring atmosphere with their own dexterous hands.
