9th Da Nang Sports Games slated for July 3 - September 16
The 9th edition of the Da Nang Sports Games is scheduled to take place from July 3 - September 16, 2022.
The opening and closing ceremonies of the sports event will be held at the city’s Tien Son Sports Arena.
About 3,000 athletes will compete in 21 sports, and ethnic and modern disciplines. The time and venue of each kind of sports and discipline will be according to their specific regulations.
The event’s organisers only organise competitions and award medals to the sports in which at least 3 athletes or 3 teams from 3 or more units register to participate.
Also, the organisers will base on the medals table to evaluate the competition results of individuals and groups. Only the units competing in at least 18 sports and disciplines will be ranked in the whole group category.
The information was released by a spokesperson for the Da Nang Department of Culture and Sports at a Wednesday meeting to discuss the preparatory work for the upcoming municipal-level Sports Games
In her remarks at the meeting, Vice Chairwoman of the municipal People’s Committee Ngo Thi Kim Yen asked the Department of Culture and Sports to make every effort to ensure the success of the opening ceremony of the forthcoming event.
She also urged the local Information and Communications Department to widely publicise the Games among the public, and the event’s organisers to uphold their sense of responsibility and well fulfill all their assigned tasks throughout the sports event.
Vice Chairwoman Yen highlighted the importance of the Games in creating a profound change in the awareness of all-level authorities and the whole society about the meaningfulness, role and importance of sports. This, thereby, will help promote the development of sports and physical training movements in the city, as well as contribute to improving health and enhancing the quality of human resources in order to serve the cause of national construction and defence and prepare for the 9th National Sports Games which is slated for November 2022 in Quang Ninh Province.
