17th ASEA-UNINET ends

The 17th ASEAN European Academic University Network (ASEA-UNINET) Plenary Meeting took place at the University of Da Nang (UDN) from 22 - 25 February.

It was attended by representatives from ASEA-UNINET member universities, along with leaders of the UDN and its school members.

During the 4-day event, the participants evaluated cooperative results over recent years, and discussed the implementation of their cooperative programmes in the years ahead with a focus on such aspects as education, science and technology, and STEM (Science-Technology-Engineering-Maths).

Also, the elections of National Coordinators, Regional Coordinators and President for ASEA-UNINET in the 2019 - 2020 term were conducted.

Within the framework of the international event, the participants were taken to visit UDN’s invention space, some of the city’s popular tourist attractions, and Quang Nam Province’s Hoi An City - one of UNESCO-recognised world heritage sites in the central region.

ASEA-UNINET is a network of universities, consisting of European and South-East Asian universities with the goal of promoting the continuous internationalization of education and research.

It was founded in 1994 by universities from Austria, Indonesia, Thailand and Vietnam as Austrian-South-East Asian University Network.

Presently, it consists more than 83 universities in total from 17 different countries, namely Austria, Cambodia, the Czech Republic, Germany, Greece, Indonesia, Iran, Italy, Malaysia, Myanmar, Pakistan, the Philippines, Portugal, Slovakia, Spain, Thailand and Viet Nam.
