Upholding spirit of overcoming difficulties to gain outstanding academic results

Following the inquisitive spirit of previous generations, there are hundreds of Da Nang-wide students striving to overcome difficulties to study well and achieve numerous outstanding achievements. Of them, many have excelled in all-round studies, as well as won high prizes at competitions dedicated to gifted students.

Tran Minh Phuong, residing in Thach Thang Ward, Hai Chau District, has been an excellent student for 12 consecutive years and has won many awards. In the 9th grade, Phuong won the first prize in English at the city-based competition for excellent students, won the Huynh Thuc Khang Award and passed the entrance exam to Le Quy Don High School for the Gifted.

When she was a 12th grader in the 2020-2021academic year, Phuong won the first prize in English at the city-based competition for excellent students, the second prize in English at the national competition for excellent students and the first prize at the Young Office Informatics Contest in the central and Central Highlands regions of Viet Nam.

At the end of her 12th grade, Phuong was the only individual to have won the Huynh Thuc Khang Award for her excellence.

On top of that, Phuong was selected to participate in Da Nang Youth Model United Nations (DYMUN) and was elected as the Head of the Content Department.  Having graduated from the senior high school, the talented girl was admitted to the Foreign Trade University in Ha Noi and was selected for a tertiary course at the Swinburne University in Australia.

As shared by Ms Nguyen Thi Hong, Chairman of Thach Thang Ward’s Study Promotion Association, Phuong is a typical student in the local study promotion movement. She has overcome a bunch of difficulties, studied and achieved many well-deserved excellent results. We often set her example in motivating students in the whole ward to strive to overcome difficulties and study well”.

In the same vein, Do Thanh Vy, residing in An Hai Tay Ward, Son Tra District, won dozens of awards from the school to the national level. In 2020, Thanh Vy passed the entrance exam to Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy and has continued to pursue her academic dream here, as well as received a long-term scholarship.

Similarly, Tran Thi Oanh, in Hoa Tien Commune, Hoa Vang District, lost her father at a young age, but she has persistently strived to continue on the academic path and earned numerous awards from her school and the locality. She graduated from university and is working at Hoa Vang District chapter of the Viet Nam Social Security.

Meanwhile, Pham Hoa Nhi, the child of a poor single woman with disabilities in Khue Trung Ward, Cam Le District, who won the first prize at the national level in Geography in 2018 and many other awards, is currently a fourth-year student of Saigon International University. She has continued to achieve high marks, receive the "SIU President's Scholarship" for the whole course worth VND74 million per year.

In particular, Dinh Tuyet Nhu, a native in My An Ward, Ngu Hanh Son District, had been an excellent student for 12 consecutive years and passed the exam to enter the High-Quality Japanese class of the University of Foreign Language Studies under the University of Da Nang.

She won the second prize at the 3rd National Japanese Speech Contest of the JLAN-Test Cup in 2019.
In 2021, Tuyet Nhu graduated from university with excellent honours and was recruited by Paracel Technology Solutions Company. She has also won the Le Van Hien Award of Ngu Hanh Son District three times.

In general, the emulation movement and the spirit of overcoming difficulties and studying well of citywide students are as diverse as a colourful flower garden. Typical examples of excellent academics are praised and rewarded by authorities and organizations, and promptly propagated and replicated. At the same time, the Study Promotion Associations at all levels regularly encourage pupils, students, to strive to study well to have a bright future, be capable of bringing their families out of poverty, become rich legitimately and help the homeland and the country.
