According to the Ministry of Education and Training, 63 cities and provinces ended the 2021 - 2022 school year on May 31 for 12th graders, facilitating the organisation of the 2022 senior high school graduation exam simultaneously across the country.
The Ministry of Education and Training is fully responsible for the exam, in charge of releasing general policy issues, promulgating guidance documents, guidelines and taking responsibility for compiling exam questions and organising the inspection of the exam.
The municipal and provincial authorities shall come up with contingency plans to respond to possible situations such as natural disasters and pandemic outbreaks and other incidents and anticipate unusual occurrences, especially in the process of organising the exam.
COVID-19 has been controlled; however, the effects of the disease are still present. Therefore, the Ministry has issued an official document guiding the organisation of the senior high school graduation exam in 2022 for candidates affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
In Da Nang, the plan to organise the 2022 high school graduation exam was issued by the municipal People's Committee at the beginning of June. The functional bodies shall task themselves with organising the exam in a safe and transparent manner, in tandem with taking contingency plans for unusual situations that may occur and ensure the strict practice of safety measures against COVID-19 during the course of the exam.
Seven specialised teams in service for exam venues in all local districts have been set up.
The organisation of this year’s exam is the same as in recent years with 3 independent tests in Mathematics, Literature, and Foreign Languages and two combined tests of Natural Sciences (Physics, Chemistry, Biology) and Social Sciences (History, Geography, and Citizen Education).
The exam will focus on subjects learnt in the 12th grade. Only the literature test will be conducted as an essay exam. The remaining ones will be taken under a multi-choice format.
A new feature of university admission was that high-school students must register online on the ministry’s admissions portal and the National Public Service Portal instead of registering for the exam on paper as in previous years.
However, freelance candidates would still have to register for the exam on paper and send it to the relevant addresses according to municipal/ provincial departments of Education and Training regulations.
Candidates infected with SARS-CoV-2 will graduate from high school without taking the exam according to the exam regulations.
The high school graduation exam is held nationwide, with about 900,000 to 1 million candidates each year.
The exam not only fetches learners a high-school diploma but also determines admission to universities and colleges.
