About over 5km from the centre of Da Nang, the Tho Quang Fishing Port, positioned in Son Tra District, is considered as the largest of its kind in Central Viet Nam.

Every day, the place attracts a large number of fishing boats carrying seafood from all over the country for consumption.

From the middle of the night, the Tho Quang Fishing Port starts come into operation with a busy crowd of buyers and sellers.

Bustling atmosphere can be seen at the port as people here are busy doing their jobs.  

A group of young people pull carts to the edge of the harbor to unload newly-caught seafood from docked fishing vessels and quickly brought them ashore. Meanwhile, others sort out and weigh seafood, and grind ice.

Sometimes they stop to rest, chat and laugh for a moment and then quickly get back to work when new boats dock.

Eating a loaf of bread in a hurry, small trader Nguyen Ngoc Thuy Linh, 47, residing in Son Tra District, said despite a hard job when we have to stay up all night, we are very happy with this job. Everyone here has a stable source of income from trading activities in this fishing port, which is considered the largest in Central Viet Nam.

After a period of hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic, trading activities have been recovered and stabilised.

Mr. Nguyen Lai, Deputy Director of the Management Board of the Tho Quang Fishing Wharf and Port, said that at present, the amount of frozen fish arriving at Tho Quang port was quite large. Therefore, his unit always sets the goal of strictly managing this area to ensure the quality of fish and to meet the consumption needs of customers.

“We are making efforts to ensure security and order, and facilitate fishing ships to load and sell fish as quickly as possible. Along with that, we also suggest logistics service providers focus on available resources to meet the needs of fishermen" added he.

The source of aquatic and seafood here is very diverse and fresh from baby sharks to grouper, eels, shrimps, squids and octopus.

Despite their old ages, many small traders are still earning a living.
