City leader gives gifts to disadvantaged children on their special day
Da Nang People’s Committee Vice Chairwoman Ngo Thi Kim Yen, on Tuesday morning, visited and presented gifts to children being cared for at the city’s Care Centre for Street Children in Son Tra District’s An Hai Bac Ward in recognition of International Children’s Day (June 1).

On behalf of the city's leaders, Vice Chairwoman Yen praised the centre’s staff for wholeheartedly educating and caring for children here over recent years. She also extended her greetings to the children on their special day.
After listening to the centre staff’s opinions and children’s sharing, Mrs. Yen promised that, in the coming time, the city leader would continue issuing more support policies for the centre to operate in a more effective manner in order to deserve as a reliable place for many disadvantaged children.
On this occasion, on behalf of the leaders of the Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee and Viet Nam Fatherland Front Committee of the city, Vice Chairwoman Yen presented an in-kind gift and VND10 million in cash to the centre.
Director of the centre Phan Sy Man said that the centre is now home to 60 children aged between 5 and 18. They are children of families living below or near the city's poverty threshold poor, orphans and children at risk of being abused. They will be raised until 18 years old.
