Da Nang beefs up cooperative ties with Japanese businesses

During his warm reception on Friday for Mr. Yamada Takio, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Viet Nam, Da Nang Party Committee Secretary Nguyen Van Quang expressed his pleasure at the Japanese Ambassador’s participation in the Da Nang Investment Forum 2022, emphasising that his presence is a very important factor to show Japanese investors’ keen interest in expanding business in Viet Nam.

As reported by Secretary Quang, Da Nang welcomed the first Japanese enterprise in 1993. Up to now, the central Vietnamese city has attracted a total of 216 Japanese-invested projects and businesses. At present, Japan takes the lead among foreign countries and territories in terms of investor numbers operating in Da Nang.

Da Nang’s Party chief highly appreciated Japanese businesses for operating projects in Da Nang with their professionalism, certainty and suitability with the city's development orientations of promoting the IT industry and smart city building ambition.

“The potential for investment cooperation between Viet Nam and Japan, and Japanese corporations in Da Nang in particular, shows off great potential. It is a need to continue to promote the bilateral cooperative ties for mutual development,” emphasised Secretary Quang.

Da Nang, in the time ahead, will continue to improve mechanisms to promote investment and transport infrastructure, such as building the ring road system surrounding the city by the end of this year, further expanding the Da Nang International Airport and developing an cargo terminal here.

Especially, from now until the end of the year, the city will start construction of the shared infrastructure of the large-scale Lien Chieu Port, promote logistics zones to improve the ecosystem and traffic connections.

In addition, Da Nang’s relevant agencies is consulting with the Civil Aviation Authority of Viet Nam on re-opening direct flights on the Da Nang with Japanese localities.

Japanese businesses that show interest in the Lien Chieu Port project will be welcome, said Secretary Quang.

The host also hoped that Japanese Ambassador Yamada Takio will serve as ‘an important bridge’ to help Da Nang attract even more Japanese investors in the coming time, thereby contributing to tightening the comprehensive diplomatic relationships between the 2 countries.

The Japanese diplomat hailed Da Nang as an attractive investment environment for Japanese businesses as the number of Japanese enterprises and projects operating in Da Nang has been increased.

For the time being, there are 216 Japanese enterprises, representative offices and projects in Da Nang with a total investment capital of US$932 million, mainly specialising in the production of components, equipment, processing, information technology, services and tourism.
