Despite the fact that she has only been in charge of the role of leader of the residential group 28 in My An Ward, Ngu Hanh Son District for 2 years, Ms Mai Thi Thanh Binh has always received the trust and love of the residents here. According to her,  as the leader of the group, she needs to be present to support, and listen to the people, so that difficulties and obstacles can be removed.

During the COVID-19 pandemic resurgence in 2021, Ms Binh coordinated with the community COVID-19 team to make every effort to take care of and support the people. With her desire to stand side by side with the people to overcome this tough time, she tried her utmost to fulfil the tasks assigned by her superiors.

After that, Ms Binh continued to mobilize people in the area to ensure local social security and maintain environmental sanitation. On top of that, she went to each household to propagate the observance of the law and mobilize people to install security cameras on roads in the area. At that time, many families did not agree but Ms Binh persisted to explain to them the benefits of installing cameras, and her family volunteered to contribute the first funding.

“Once, after returning from my shift at a pandemic control checkpoint, I left my motorbike in front of my house, and it was stolen just 5 minutes later. Thanks to extracting images from a security camera near my house, my motorbike was found by ward-based police officers after just over 10 hours.

Since then, people here believed in the effectiveness of the camera, so they all agreed on the installation. Thus far, the system of 12 security cameras and recorders installed here has been completed with a total cost of VND 50 million contributed by the people," said Ms Binh. Moreover, thanks to this camera system, the situation of indiscriminate dumping of waste in unpopulated areas has been improved.

Ms Binh has always received the support and trust of the people since she has been willing to listen to advise locals. Then she tries to persuade them to address all the problems and misunderstandings gently. For the time being,  her biggest desire for her and the locals here is to have a community house to facilitate people's meetings and activities when needed.

According to Mr Dinh Van Chinh, Secretary of Residential Group 26, 27,  he highly appreciates Ms Binh's enthusiasm for supporting and helping people in difficulty, especially at the time of COVID-19 happen. Moreover, Ms Binh is also persistent in mobilizing people to well abide by the Party and State's regulations, guidelines, policies and laws.

As shared by Mr Bach Ngoc Hai, Chairman of the People's Committee of My An Ward, Ms Binh is a cheerful, enthusiastic, resourceful person in movement activities and local advocacy work. Thanks to the installation of cameras, the social security and environment at Residential Group 28 have had positive changes, making great contributions to local development.
