During his reception for the Indian guests, Vice Chairman Son briefed them on the city’s favourable geographical position as being a gateway to the UNESCO-recognised world heritage sites in Central Viet Nam, namely Hue Citadel in Thua Thien Hue Province, Hoi An and My Son Sanctuary in Quang Nam Province, and Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park in Quang Binh Province.

He revealed that Da Nang targeted to become a resort tourism city, one of high technology, innovation and start-up hubs, and a livable city in Asia. The city has successfully organised many large-scale international events, and it is now focusing on promoting the development of the high-tech industry. The Da Nang Hi-tech Park is one of the top 3 hi-tech parks in Viet Nam.

Vice Chairman Son hoped that through this meeting, bilateral cooperation relations between Da Nang and India in the fields of aviation, tourism and hi-tech would be fostered in the time to come. He also hoped that the two localities would enhance tourist and cultural exchange activities in the near future.

He pledged that the municipal authorities would provide maximum support for Indian businesses involved in travel, tourism, aviation, hi-tech and logistics fields to invest into and operate in the city effectively. He expressed his hope that after Routes Asia, Indigo Airlines will operate non-stop flights to Da Nang.

Mr. Rajat Kumar, Vice President of Indigo Airlines' Network Planning, expressed his pleasure at coming to Da Nang. This was the first city of Viet Nam that he had visited and he highly appreciated the long-term relationship between Viet Nam and India.

Indigo is India's largest passenger airline, primarily operating in India’s domestic air travel market. Indigo serves 56 domestic and 18 international destinations. In Viet Nam, the airline has operated direct flights between India and Ha Noi, and Ho Chi Minh City.

The Indian guest said that Da Nang was a potential city in many fields, so Indigo hoped to open an official air route to Da Nang in the time to come.

Mr. Rajat Kumar added Indian businesses showed their keen interest in investment opportunities in Viet Nam in general, and in Da Nang in particular.

In the next few days, the airline hopes to have a closer exchange with the city in a bid to learn about more general information, and investment and development opportunities in Da Nang, especially M.I.C.E tourism and wedding tourism for Indian billionaires.

During the working session, the two sides discussed more about the city’s potential and strengths, plus local tourism firms’ preparatory work in terms of accommodation, food, etc., specifically for the Indian tourist market.
