Various activities held in Da Nang to celebrate National Action Month for Children

The Da Nang government has announced planned activities to celebrate National Action Month for Children 2022 which aims to increase community education and awareness about child abuse and family violence in efforts to protect children and keep them safe from abuse and domestic violence.

Focus will be on spreading awareness about child abuse prevention month, and calling for more active participation of relevant agencies and organisations, families in order to take effective interventions for preventing child maltreatment.

Action Month for Children is an annual campaign that is launched across the country from June 1-30 in a bid to leverage knowledge, raise awareness and encourage action to protect children from abuse and neglect as well as ensure a safe summer for them.

Efforts will be focus on offering scholarships, learning tools and gifts for children in especially difficult circumstances, those from poor families and ethnic groups, those who lost a parent or caregiver to COVID-19, holding exciting events for children to ensure a safe summer for them, and more.

Besides, heed will be paid to raising awareness about laws, decrees and regulations for child protection, as well as taking action to combat domestic and sexual abuse against children in Da Nang. Furthermore, special attention will be given to opening swimming and water safety courses, life skills courses, self-defence classes for children, and more.

At the recent launching ceremony for National Action Month for Children 2022 in Da Nang, 200 scholarships valued at VND 1 million each funded by the city’s budget, and 200 gifts funded by the Da Nang Association of Charities and Children's Rights were awarded to outstanding school pupils with good academic results in the 2021–22 school year. To mark the occasion, learning tools were given to 400 for children who are those in especially difficult circumstances, along with those from poor families and ethnic groups.   

To celerate International Children's Day (June 1) and respond to National Action Month for Children 2022, Son Tra District authorities launched a campaign on Tuesday to raise public awareness about children abuse protection month in an attempt to protect children from domestic violence, sexual abuse, and drowning.

To mark the occasion, 25 scholarships worth VND 1 million each along with 50 gifts of learning tools valued at VND 500,000 each were offered to poor studious pupils in Son Tra District. In addition, 300 gifts valued at VND 300,000 each funded by the Son Tra District People's Committee, and 140 gifts worth VND 150,000 each  funded by the An Hai Dong Ward People's Committee were given to local children in especially difficult circumstances.
