Da Nang leader extends greetings, presents gifts to the elderly on their special day

Da Nang People's Committee Vice Chairwoman Ngo Thi Kim Yen on Monday visited, extended the best health wishes and presented gifts to the Representative Board of the municipal Elderly Citizens’ Association and the Thai Phien Club for the Elderly on the occasion of the 81st anniversary of the Vietnamese Traditional Day of the Elderly (June 6, 1941 -2022).

Vice Chairwoman Yen highly appreciated the Representative Board of the municipal Elderly Citizens’ Association and the Thai Phien Club for the Elderly for their effective operation over the past times and sent her thankfulness to elders for their great contribution and dedication to the city’s progress.

The city leader also encouraged elders to educate the young generation on the national revolutionary traditions, wholeheartedly impart experience and help their children and grandchildren to become useful citizens in society, and actively participate in creating public consensus for the guidelines and policies adopted by the Party, State and authorities at all levels as well.

On behalf of the city leaders, Vice Chairwoman Yen presented gifts to the 2 above-mentioned units and VND5 million in cash each. 

It is known that the Representative Board of the municipal Elderly Citizens’ Association manages 71,247 members, accounting for 63.6% of the total elderly citizens in the city, regularly maintains the patriotic emulation movements and operates 191 clubs of all kinds serving arts and sports services for the elderly.

Meanwhile, the Thai Phien Club currently has more than 2,500 members, regularly launching sessions for poetry and other cultural activities on a monthly basis.

On the same day, Vice Chairwoman Yen paid visits to Tran Thi Lui, aged 100, and Ho Van Nam, 101, in Hoa Cuong Bac and Hoa Cuong Nam Ward, respectively, both in Hai Chau District.
The city leader wished the 2 typical old people longevity and happiness, as well as encouraged the duo to serve as spiritual support for their children and grandchildren.
