During her reception for the Da Nang visitors, Deputy Secretary of the Salavan Provincial Party Committee Bun-Tha-Vy- Duong-La-Sy highlighted the meaningfulness of the working visit made by the Da Nang delegation in marking the 60th anniversary of the Viet Nam-Laos diplomatic ties (September 5, 1962 - 2022) and the 45th anniversary of the signing of the Viet Nam - Laos Amity and Cooperation Treaty (July 18, 1977 - 2022).

She thanked the Da Nang and Viet Nam governments for supporting her locality to train high-quality human resources, build schools, donate medical equipment, and overcome consequences of natural disasters, storms and floods.

The Laotian host hoped that the bilateral cooperation and special friendship relationships with Da Nang would be further strengthened in the time to come.

She expressed her desire that Da Nang would create favourable conditions for Salavan businesses to visit and learn about the city’s investment climate, asking for support from the city to build a war museum and a healthcare school in the province.

On behalf of the city leaders, Secretary Quang thanked the leaders of Salavan Province for their warm welcome.

He also briefed the Laotian host on some of the city’s remarkable achievements over the past time. In particular, in the first six months of 2022, Da Nang’s socio-economic situation prospered in many spheres. The city’s gross regional domestic product (GRDP) is estimated to go up by 7.23% over the same period last year. Import and export activities continued to maintain growth momentum, whilst investment promotion and attraction activities recorded positive results.

Mr. Quang affirmed Da Nang always received the companionship of its twinning localities and provinces, including Salavan Province, during its construction and development process.

The city Party chief Quang expressed his delight at fruitful results from cooperation programmes with Salavan Province over recent years, especially in human resource training and infrastructure development for education.

He pledged to facilitate Da Nang businesses to visit and seek investment opportunities in Salavan, as well as encourage Salavan firms to develop markets, especially agricultural product export and logistics, in Da Nang.

The city leader took the opportunity to invite Salavan businesses to participate in the International East-West Economic Corridor (EWEC) Trade and Tourism Fair 2022 in Da Nang in August to promote their products.

During the meeting, leaders of the two localities signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation over the 2023-2027 period in such aspects as scholarship granting, Vietnamese language teaching, tourism and commerce. On the occasion, the industry and trade sectors of the two localities also entered into a cooperation agreement.

Within the framework of their working trip to Salavan Province, the group of Da Nang’s leaders paid a visit to the Vietnamese Language Centre.

Secretary Quang gave spiritual encouragement to Vietnamese teachers and hoped that they would overcome difficulties to well fulfill their assigned tasks.

Standing Vice Chairman of the municipal People's Committee Ho Ky Minh expressed his delight at the centre's outstanding achievements. He hoped that the centre would continue to uphold its achieved results and make more efforts to teach Vietnamese language to the Laotian, as well as introduce Vietnamese culture to the people of Laos, thereby bringing beautiful images of the people of Da Nang, and Viet Nam as a whole, to Lao friends.

The Da Nang delegation gave 30 tablets, and VND500 million in cash, to Salavan Province. Also, 3 laptops and 10 tablets were donated to the Vietnamese People's Association-Friendship School, whilst 2 laptops and 10 tablets were presented to the Vietnamese Language Centre.
