Da Nang supports Laos to train high-quality human resources

Secretary of the Party Committee and Governor of Sekong Province of Laos Leklay Sivilay on Monday hosted a high-ranking Da Nang delegation led by municipal Party Committee Secretary Nguyen Van Quang.

Mr Leklay Sivilay expressed his pleasure to welcome Da Nang’s leaders to Sekong Province, and he highlighted the traditional friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Sekong Province and Da Nang, and Laos – Viet Nam as a whole.

He also expressed his delight at fruitful outcomes from the bilateral cooperation programmes in such aspects as education, health care, and trade, significantly contributing to driving the province's growth.

Mr Leklay Sivilay took the opportunity to ask for more support from Da Nang to train human resources at the bachelors, masters, and doctoral level, create socio-economic development plan, encourage its businesses to pour money into Sekong Province’s projects, especially in the agriculture, as well as faciliate Sekong province to export its coal by sea through Da Nang’s Tien Sa Port.

Secretary Nguyen Van Quang affirmed that the visit by Da Nang’s leaders on the occasion of the 45th anniversary of the Viet Nam-Laos Friendship Treaty (July 18), and the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Viet Nam and Laos (September 5) aims to strengthen the cooperative relationship between the two localities.

The Da Nang Party Chief affirmed that government and people of Da Nang, and those of Viet Nam at large, have given the top priority to nurturing the bilateral traditional friendship and special solidarity between Da Nang and Sekong Province, and Viet Nam and Laos as a whole. He also highly appreciated results of bilateral cooperation between the two localities.

Mr Quang also agreed on the contents of the bilateral cooperative program for the 2023-2027 period, emphasizing that Da Nang will help Sekong Province train high-quality human resources, and the special attention will be paid to boosting bilateral cooperation in agriculture and fisheries.

Leaders of Da Nang and Sekong Province signed a Memorandum of Understanding for cooperation in the 2023-2027 period. Under the agreement, Da Nang will grant annually full scholarships to some students and government officials of Sekong Province to study education programs at the bachelors, masters, and doctoral level.

On the same day, the Da Nang delegation attended the inauguration ceremony of upgrading the Friendship Primary School of the Vietnamese Association in Sekong Province to the Friendship High School.

In his remarks at the inauguration ceremony for the new school, Da Nang People's Committee Vice Chairman Ho Ky Minh asked the school to maximise its efficiency in a bid to bring great benefits to the Vietnamese community in Sekong Province, and all local people as a whole.

Also on Monday, Da Nang's leaders visited the Vietnamese Language Center in Sekong Province. During his visit to this venue, Da Nang People's Committee Vice Chairman Ho Ky Minh praised the Center for its efforts in teaching Vietnamese language for Lao government officials and employees and the Vietnamese community in Sekong Province despite the short period of operation. The Da Nang leader took the opportunity to urge the center’s staff to continue their efforts to promote studies of Vietnamese language in Laos.

Within the framework of the visit by Da Nang’s leaders, they donated 30 tablets devices to the government of Sekong Province and its departments and agencies, supported VND 500 million in cash for social work and social welfare in the province, presented 3 laptops and 10 tablets to the Friendship High School, and gave 2 laptops and 10 tablets to the Vietnamese Language Center in the province.
