By 2030, Da Nang to become growth pole of central key economic zone

The Resolution on a draft Da Nang Master Plan for the 2021-2030 period, with a vision to 2050 was approved by the municipal People's Council at its 11th session in the 10th tenure for the 2021-2026 term on Friday.

Speaking at the meeting, municipal People’s Committee Vice Chairman Ho Ky Minh said that the basic content of the city’s planning focused on a number of issues such as unifying the viewpoint of building Da Nang into a growth pole of the central key economic zone.

In terms of planning, Da Nang will concentrate on developing three pillars: tourism associated with resort real estate; knowledge economy with the spearheads of high-tech industry associated with creative urban construction, and start-up; and a high-quality service centre with two spearheads of seaports and airports associated with logistics services and a regional international financial centre.

The average economic growth rate in the 2021-2030 period will reach 9.5-10%/year, whilst GRDP per capita will be about VND200-220 million/person (equivalent to US$8,000- 8,500).

Regarding the city's economic structure, by 2030, agriculture, forestry and fishery sector will account for 1-2%; industry - construction 29-30%; services 61-62% and product tax 8-9%.

The city strives for an average increase of 9-11% per year in the local budget revenue. Total social development investment capital will increase by 11-12%/year.

The total investment capital for social development in the 2021-2030 period will stand at about VND 800 trillion.

The average annual population growth rate in the 2021-2030 period will be 2.9%, in which the natural increase 1.35-1.4%.

By 2030, the permanent and temporary resident population in the city will be about 1.56 million, and about 1.79 million if including the converted population.

During the 2021-2030 period, the city strives to create new jobs for 32-35 thousand people/year, and keep the unemployment rate below 5%.

By 2030, the rate of trained workers with degrees will be 66%, and the urbanization rate 90%. Particularly, Hoa Vang District sets a target to achieve a fourth grade urban area by 2025.

The average residential floor area per capita in urban areas by 2030 will be at least 32m2, the forest coverage rate will reach 45-47%, and the average area of public green land per capita in the inner city will be 9m2/person.

The draft unifies the content of integrating sectors and fields in the city planning, and the proposed plan for zoning and allocating land use.

Chairman of the municipal People's Council Luong Nguyen Minh Triet asked the municipal People's Committee to absorb some comments at the meeting to adjust and complete the draft before submitting it to the central government for approval.
