Da Nang wants to promote cooperation in MICE tourism (Meetings-Incentives-Conferences-Exhibitions) with Goyang City, Gyeonggi Province, South Korea, municipal People’s Committee Vice Chairman Tran Chi Cuong remarked when receiving Mayor Lee Dong Hwan on Thursday.

During his reception for the South Korean guest, Vice Chairman Cuong revealed Da Nang was oriented to form a non-tariff zone and free trade zone. Meanwhile, Goyang City is also developing towards a free economic zone with special mechanisms. Along with that, the two cities shared the similarities in developing MICE tourism, building environmentally friendly and smart cities, and improving key traffic urban areas.

Therefore, the city leader hoped that the two sides will promote cooperation in areas of mutual interest such as MICE tourism cooperation, and share experiences in building and developing free trade zones.

Mr. Cuong took the opportunity to ask for help from Mayor Lee Dong Hwan to call on businesses from Goyang City to invest in Da Nang in the high-tech field.

He added Da Nang has established friendly relations and cooperation with such South Korean localities as  Changwon, Daegu, Hwaseong and Jeju, as well as effectively implemented many cooperation programmes in various fields.

In addition, Hai Chau District signed a cooperation agreement with Uiwang District, Gyeonggi Province. Son Tra District signed a cooperation agreement with Gurye, Jeollanamdo Province. Hoa Vang District signed a cooperation agreement with Yeongyang District, Gyeongsangbuk Province on labor export cooperation.

For his part, Mayor Lee Dong Hwan expressed his impression of Da Nang's tourism environment, especially the city's natural landscapes.

The South Korean guest introduced the socio-economic situation, strengths and potential of Goyang City to the city leader, saying that every year Goyang organizes many captivating events and festivals that attract a large number of tourists from all over.

On the occasion, the mayor invited the city leaders to attend the upcoming Cherry Blossom Festival Event in Goyang City.

Mayor Lee Dong Hwan said that Da Nang's orientations were very consistent with Goyang's future orientations. He voiced his hope that there will be many effective cooperation programmes between the two cities in the near future, thereby contributing to strengthening the friendship relationship between South Korea and Viet Nam in the near future.
