Efforts to reduce domestic violence
Two men’s clubs have been established in Hoa Vang District’s Hoa Phong Commune to help fight domestic violence, sexual abuse, and other types of violence against women and girls.
Initiated by UN Women (the United Nations organisation dedicated to gender equality and the empowerment of women) and the Da Nang Women’s Union, the clubs are pioneers in the campaign to stop violence against women and are being trialled in Hoa Vang District.

The clubs have a total of 22 members who are Youth Union members and young people, 70% of them still single. They are actively involved in changing the attitudes of men and boys who foster violence against women and girls.
Apart from the men’s clubs, a rapid response group has been established in each village in the Hoa Phong Commune, with 20 male and female members in each.
They promote gender equality and women’s empowerment in their localities. Thanks to their great efforts, many couples have been given useful help to settle their quarrels and conflicts in order to have a happy married life.
