First-ever collective labour agreement signed

On Thursday, 4 tourism businesses in Da Nang entered into a collective labour agreement, the first of its kind in Viet Nam.  The signing was witnessed by the Director of the International Labour Organisation (ILO) in Viet Nam, Mr Chang Hee Lee.

The 4 are Viet Nam Tourism Company (Vitours), Phuong Dong Viet Tourism Company, Phu An Thinh Company, and Saigontourane Hotel Joint Stock Company.

The agreement is expected to bring benefits to the companies’ near 700 employees, around 420 of whom are female.  In particular, they will benefit from salaries which, at minimum, are at least 3.3% higher than the regional minimum wage set by the Vietnamese government.  They will also enjoy increases in dining allowances and other benefits.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Director Chang highlighted the significance of the agreement which should help to reduce labour turnover and promote stable labour relations.
