Readers donate 57.1 million VND for Co Tu boy with meningococcal septicaemia

The DA NANG Newspaper published an article on 12 May to appeal for donations to help 15-month-old boy Poloong Quoc Quan from the Co Tu ethnic minority group in Quang Nam Province’s Dong Giang District.  He is suffering from meningococcal septicaemia and has had to have both legs amputated below the knee.

To date, a total of 57.1 million VND has been donated, and on Tuesday a representative from the newspaper’s Reader-Related Affairs Department handed the donations to Quan’s parents at the Maternity and Paediatrics Hospital.  Also, a representative from the University of Da Nang handed over donations of 14 million VND.

A nurse from the hospital’s Paediatric Recovery Department happily reported that a total of around 1 billion VND has been donated to the boy from nationwide generous donors over recent days.
