Joining efforts to help the poor
In recent years, Fatherland Front Committees (FFC) at all levels across Da Nang have actively become involved in appealing for public donations to help the poor. This has helped to ensure the efficiency of the city’s poverty reduction programme.

Since the start of this year, a total of over 27.390 billion VND has been raised for the city’s Fund for the Poor from FFC at all levels.
In particular, during the nationwide Peak Month for the Poor 2018 between 17 September and 17 October, the municipal-level FFC has raised over 2.5 billion VND from generous donors.
The donated money has gone to build houses and support the livelihoods to the needy, as well as to grant scholarships to their children.
In addition, the municipal-level FFC has donated 140 million VND to the Ngu Hanh Son District authorities to repair storm-resistant houses for 7 poor local families.
Moreover, the municipal-level FFC has cooperated with Mr Ly Xuong Can, a member of the Viet Nam Fatherland Front Central Committee, to give 20 scholarships, valued at 2 million VND each, to poor studious pupils of the Nguyen Van Linh Junior High School in Cam Le District, and the Le Thi Hong Gam Junior High School in Thanh Khe District.
According to the inadequate statistics released by the municipal FFC, as of the end of the third quarter of this year, a total of 84 new houses for poor families have been built, and 243 others have been repaired.
Mrs Le Thi Thai Duong, Vice Chairwoman of the municipal-level FFC, said that the city still has 7,114 poor families which are in need of financial assistance. She, therefore, highlighted the necessity for government employees, military soldiers, agencies, organisations and enterprises across the city to join efforts with the city leaders to help these families enhance their living conditions and escape poverty in a sustainable manner.
