Medical teams of Binh Dinh and Thua Thien Hue return home from Da Nang

70 medical workers from Binh Dinh and Thua Thien Hue provinces, who had been sent to Da Nang to help the city tackle the coronavirus pandemic, returned home on Saturday morning.

The healthcare workers, consisting of 30 from Binh Dinh Province and 40 from Thua Thien Hue Province, had a high level of profession specific knowledge, expertise and skill in clinical assessments and intervention.

Addressing the farewell meeting of these medical workers, Da Nang Party Committee Deputy Secretary Nguyen Van Quang expressed his deep gratitude to them for their great devotion and dedication to help Da Nang in its tough combat against coronavirus.

He also wished them good health and a happy life in order to continue dedicating themselves to save lives and protect the health of the public.

Deputy Secretary Quang also took the opportunity to send his heartfelt thanks to health officials and workers from the Ministry of Health, and the nationally renowned hospitals of Bach Mai and Cho Ray, especially medical staff of Thua Thien Hue, Binh Dinh, Hai Phong and Nghe An, for helping his city fight against the virus. Thanks to their support, the Covid-19 outbreak in Da Nang has been basically brought under control, Mr Quang remarked.

Dr Phan Van Quy, Deputy Director of the Thua Thien-Hue Province-based Lung Hospital cum head of the province's medical worker team, highlighted the their trip to Da Nang to help the city tackle healthcare workforce shortages amid a new wave of Covid-19 infections, as well as to be a very valuable opportunity for them to improve their professional skills.

Dr Quy expressed his happiness at the virus being put under control in Da Nang, marking the initial basis for easing the city's social distancing restrictions.

Director of the municipal Department of Health Ngo Thi Kim Yen said Da Nang, around 2,000 health workers have been sent from provinces and cities nationwide to Da Nang to help it tackle workforce shortages after the city embraced for a second wave of Covid-19 infections in late July.

In response to Da Nang government's appeals, such localities as Ha Noi, Ho Chi Minh City, Hai Phong, Binh Dinh, Thua Thien-Hue and Nghe An have sent their healthcare workers to Da Nang in an effort to help the city in the battle against the coronavirus pandemic.
