Proactive steps needed to support Da Nang's transition to new normal

Mr Triet stressed the need for authorities at local level and relevant agencies to take proactive steps to support local residents to transition to normal life amid COVID-19 in a safe manner in addition to taking all necessary measures to safeguard green zones. The focus must be on making some changes for the better and making their lives more convenient and healthier, he emphasized.

The Da Nang leader highlighting the need for effective measures to ensure equitable and timely access to COVID-19 financial support packages for eligible beneficiaries granted by national and municipal governments in an attempt make sure no one is left behind amid COVID-19 crisis.

Mr Triet asked the municipal Department of Education and Training to work with relevant units to welcome return of teachers and university students from other Vietnamese localities to work and study in the city as well as take all necessary measures to ensure effective medical isolation and quarantine of these immigrants in order to prevent COVID-19 importations from them.

Municipal People's Committee Vice Chairwoman Ngo Thi Kim Yen underscored the necessity to strengthen COVID-19 control measures in hotspots linked to new cases and conduct comprehensive contact tracing of each confirmed case. Besides, the heed must be paid on educating the public on health and safety protocols, especially the 5K recommendations of the Ministry of Health, and urging them to take action to protect themselves and others from COVID-19.

Doctor Ton That Thanh, the Director of the Da Nang Centre for Disease Control and Prevention, said that coronavirus infection rates in the community have fallen by 98.28% compared with the coronavirus pandemic's peak in August. The number of new cases in the community has decreased from 11 in the 36th week to 5 in the 37th week and 4 in the 38th week.
