Mrs Yen asked authorities at local level and relevant agencies to continue to follow COVID-19 prevention guidelines in line with the current direction from the municipal government after more restrictions were removed from today, October 16.

The municipal Department of Education and Training were tasked to develop specific plans for infection prevention and control in schools under all alert levels after reopening in order to keep teachers and students safe while they attend school.

The health agency was asked to continue to give advice to the municipal government on appropriate preventive measures that can apply at each risk level.

Mrs Yen called on authorities at local level to continue to keep a close watch on arrivals and returnees from COVID-19 affected areas in an attempt to reduce the risk of COVID-19 importations or reintroduction from these people.

Da Nang is at a moderate risk level for COVID-19 and it will implement appropriate measures that apply to alert level 2, said Mrs Yen.

Municipal Department of Education and Training Director Le Thi Bich Thuan said that Da Nang’s schools are implementing a number of recommended safety measures to prepare campus buildings for a safe reopening after the government granted approval.

Pupils from primary to senior high schools in Hoa Bac Commune, Hoa Vang District will return to classroom learning first from October 18, and twelfth-grade students from the Le Quy Don Senior High School for the Gifted will go back into the classroom from October 25. The remaining schools in Da Nang will gradually welcome back students from November 1 but their reopening will depend on COVID-19 infection risk.
