During his Tuesday inspection visit to the construction site of a garbage transfer station on Le Thanh Nghi Street in Hai Chau District, Deputy Secretary of the Da Nang Party Committee cum Chairman of the municipal People’s Council Luong Nguyen Minh Triet highly lauded the Management Board of the Da Nang Urban Development and Infrastructure Construction Projects - the project’s investor, and contractors, for their great efforts in ensuring on-schedule progress, high quality and aesthetics of the work.

He took the opportunity to ask the project’s operating unit and contractor to soon increase the capacity of the station to the maximum during the trial operation in order to assess and make timely adjustments and supplements to ensure the effective operation of the station.

In addition, importance should be attached to guaranteeing traffic order and safety and environmental sanitation for garbage trucks whilst waiting for their turn in front of the garbage transfer station.

The city leader assigned the municipal People's Council’s Urban Committee, the Hai Chau District People's Committee, and the city’s Department of Natural Resources and Environment to regularly check and supervise the trial operation of the garbage transfer station, including surrounding areas, in a bid to access all aspects in a comprehensive manner, especially the impact on the environment. The purpose is to make recommendations and timely handle environmental pollution.

The Management Board of the Da Nang Urban Development and Infrastructure Construction Projects was also urged to complete necessary procedures to soon put the waste transfer station into operation, thereby meeting the city's garbage collection and treatment requirements.

Chairman Triet directed the project’s contractor to speed up the construction progress of another garbage transfer station in Son Tra District, as well as expeditiously carry out procedures to soon start construction of similar stations in Ngu Hanh Son and Cam Le districts.

According to the Management Board, the construction of a garbage transfer station at the end of Le Thanh Nghi Street has been completed. Such items as crushing bulky waste, pressing garbage, odor and wastewater treatment, spraying for microbial inoculants, and garbage trucks have been put into trial operation.

Currently, the project’s contractor is calibrating equipment, setting optimal operating parameters and dealing with some problems.

The management board will ask for permission from the municipal People's Committee test operation for further 6 months.
