Addressing the awarding ceremony of the Award on Sunday, the Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Tran Hong Ha emphasized that climate change, natural ecosystem decline and resource depletion are dual crises that humanity is facing.

Therefore, successfully transforming serious challenges caused by these dual crises into development opportunities is the requirement and responsibility of all levels, sectors and the whole society. In detail, the State plays a constructive role, creating a legal corridor; people and businesses are both the centre and the subject of action, whilst socio-political organisations, news agencies and media play a promoting role.

According to the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, the contest attracted 380 journalism works that were published and broadcast from 2020 -2022 by more than 100 newspapers, national and local television stations.

The preliminary panel selected 73 works for the final round and the final panel selected 34 works and 1 collective for honouring with prizes. The work "What does Central Viet Nam do to respond to natural disasters?" by Hua Van Hai and Le Hoang Hiep from Da Nang Newspaper brought home a C prize.
