That period saw a significant increase in the number of people participating in social insurance including compulsory and voluntary social insurance. In particular, the number of people participating in compulsory social insurance rose by 17,450, equivalent to 8.09%, whilst that in voluntary social insurance by 2,826 people, equivalent to 28.71%.

As of July 31, 2022, the rate of people in the working age group participating in social insurance had reached 43.22%, surpassing the target by 1.22%. Of this, farmers and informal workers participating in voluntary social insurance had accounted for 2.12% of the workforce, 0.92% higher than the target.

The proportion of people in the working age group joining unemployment insurance had been 39.76%, exceeding the city’s target by 5.76%.

Till date, 92.7% of the city’s population has joined health insurance, excluding health insurance participants who work in the armed forces.

These figures were released by the Da Nang branch of Viet Nam Social Security (VSS) at its Friday meeting to review its performance over the past seven months and identify main tasks for the rest of the year.

Addressing the meeting, municipal People’s Committee Chairman Le Trung Chinh praised the city’s Steering Committee for Social Insurance and Health Insurance Policies, and relevant agencies, for their great efforts and remarkable achievements over that period.

He also urged relevant units to continue their efforts to help the city reach its target of 100% in universal health insurance coverage and increasing the number of participants in social insurance, especially voluntary one, in the coming time.
