VND8 billion for planting trees on Son Tra Peninsula
The Da Nang government has issued a plan to plant trees to create features on the Son Tra Peninsual at a total cost of VND8 billion. The plan will be implemented during the 2022 - 2025 period.
Accordingly, two main indigenous tree varieties on the peninsula, namely Lagerstroemia speciosa and Millettia nigrescens Gagnep trees, will be planted along 3 routes with a total length of 13.146km.
Specifically, the more than 5.6km Routes 1 will stretch from the Tien Sa Port to the top of the Ban Co (Chessboard) Peak, the 2km Route 2 from the DRT station to Vong Canh (watch-tower), and the over 5.4km Route 3 from the Ho Xanh (Green Lake) to Bai Bac tourist site.
Also, trees will be grown at the foot of the Ban Co Peak on an area of 0.1ha.
Lagerstroemia speciosa and Millettia nigrescens Gagnep trees will be planted interspersed with each other, each 5m apart, along the routes on the Son Tra Peninsula. Only Millettia nigrescens Gagnep trees will be planted on the top of the Ban Co Peak at a distance of 5m x 5m between the trees themselves and between tree rows.
Earlier, at a meeting on June 1, 2022, Da Nang leaders stressed the need to plant some native tree species suitable to the climatic and soil conditions on the Son Tra Peninsula. The purpose was to preserve the ecological environment and promote the values of the natural landscape on the tourist spot, thereby creating its own beauty and identity as a highlight for the city.
