Over 80,800 people in Da Nang to be evacuated ahead of Noru' arrival

This morning and afternoon, 80,801 residents in Da Nang will be evacuated from the typhoon’s path, as well as from residential areas prone to landslides and flash floods.

Da Nang People's Committee Chairman Le Trung Chinh has just urged local authorities at all levels, departments, agencies, associations and mass organisations to complete the evacuation of people in areas prone to flooding and landslides before 2:00pm on Tuesday while securing sufficient supply of foods and medical products for people in evacuation shelters and those in potential areas that are isolated and inaccessible due to the flood waters and landslides.

Special attention will be paid to mobilising forces and means of vehicles to be ready to prevent any unexpected incidents and absolutely ensure life safety for people and tourists, especially those in coastal areas, estuaries at risk of rising water and high waves, hilly areas at risk of landslides and floods, or unsafe accommodation facilities.

Public employees and workers working in industrial parks will be allowed to stay home, whilst all wet markets citywide will be also closed, from the midday of Tuesday.

Locals and tourists, plus vehicles are banned from travelling to the Son Tra Peninsula. Construction units must lower and reinforce tower cranes, cranes and construction equipment before 8:00 am on September 27, 2022, as well as resolutely not allow construction workers to stay in temporary camps at the construction sites.

Fishermen are prohibited from staying on fishing boats starting from 8:00 pm on Tuesday.
