Head of the Da Nang Party Committee's Mass Mobilisation Committee Le Van Trung and Chairwoman of the Da Nang Women's Union Hoang Thi Thu Huong attended UN Women's 6^th Safe Cities and Safe Public Spaces Global Leaders' Forum in Quito, the capital of Ecuador, from November 28 to 30.

The forum discussed such issues as strengthening multi-sectoral stakeholder engagement to realise safe and sustainable cities through action and policy agendas for women and girls; tools and lessons applied to strengthen approaches and responses to sexual harassment and other forms of sexual violence against women and girls in public spaces; policies to implement ‘Safe Cities and Safe Public Spaces’ programmes.

At the forum, Chairwoman of the Da Nang Women's Union Hoang Thi Thu Huong introduced Da Nang's policies in economic, cultural and social development, especially the good implementation of social security policies, care for women and children, and the promotion of gender equality and prevent gender-based violence.

On this occasion, Da Nang was recognised by UN Women as the second city in Viet Nam to participate in UN Women’s Global Flagship Programme Initiative 'Safe Cities and Safe Public Spaces'.

Participating in this initiative will help Da Nang access knowledge, technical support, connect with the network of cities participating in the initiative and advocate for policies to stop violence against women and children, develop safe public spaces, hereby contributing to bringing practical benefits to Da Nang in sustainable development.
