Since the start of this year, Hai Chau District has made remarkable achievements in ensuring the stable growth of the district’s socio-economic sector.

Most notably, between January and May, total taxes collected in the district reached around 384 billion VND.

Also, an emphasis has been on joining efforts with the city authorities to establish specialised shopping areas along major streets including Le Duan, Pham Hong Thai and Tran Ke Xuong, in combination with ensuring local civilised trading activities.

Forty businesses specialising in making craft products have been established in the district so far.

The district has also seen many positive results from ensuring local urban management, security and defence.

Hai Chau District Party Committee (PC) Secretary Vo Van Thuong recently suggested that the city authorities should allocate funds from the city’s budget to refurbish 9 downgraded apartment buildings in the district, and approve the establishment of shopping areas along Phan Chau Trinh and Hoang Dieu.

In addition, the district leader took the opportunity to ask for permission to establish a night market on Nhu Nguyet and upgrade the district’s administrative centre.

Municipal PC Deputy Secretary Tri stressed the need for the district to ensure sustainable economic development and effective urban management, promote Party building work, and maintain a strong local political system.

He urged local relevant agencies to identify incentive strategies for bolstering the district’s progress to help it justify its position as the most prosperous inner-city district.

In particular, the district should become a pioneer in effectively deploying the campaign ‘The City of 4 Safe Programmes’ which aims to ensure security, traffic safety, food safety and hygiene, and social welfare for local residents.

Greater efforts should be made to crack down on criminals and social evils, and more surveillance cameras should be installed in public areas in order to monitor and deal with security and traffic violations.

Deputy Secretary Tri also stressed the urgency to accelerate administrative reform to enhance the performance and combativeness of the district’s Party organisations, which in turn will create consensus amongst local residents to help the district make more breakthroughs in the years ahead.
