Traffic is clear, the streets are clean and beautiful

On Thursday, the last day of the Tet holiday, local people returned to the city to start their working day. Traffic at the Da Nang Inter-provincial Coach Station, Da Nang Railway Station, International Airport and gateways to the city is open without congestion.

It is known that to serve the travel needs of people, passenger coach operators, airlines and Vietnam Railways have planned to increase trips before and after Tet.

On January 25, 100% of officers, employees and workers of the Da Nang Urban Environment Joint Stock Company and the Central Branch of the Ha Noi Urban Environment Company Limited - (URENCO 15) collected domestic garbage, cleaned the streets after 3 days of Tet festival and transported 1,580 tonnes of garbage to Khanh Son landfill for disposal, 1.5 times more than usual. Thanks to this, the streets and public places, flower decoration positions are kept clean and beautiful to serve people and tourists in the spring season.

During the Tet holidays, engineers, workers and motor vehicles still performed normally on the project of improving the water environment in the east of Son Tra District. According to the Da Nang Management Board for Traffic Work Investment and Construction Projects, up to now, more than 87% of the project workload has been completed.

Shopping demand is not high

Since the second day of Tet, a number of shopping centers and supermarkets such as GO, MM Mega Market and Lotte Mart have reopened. Apart from trading goods, the Lotte Mart operates an amusement park and dining area, so visitors were quite crowded with an average of 5,000 visitors per day.

Besides, small traders at some markets also resumed selling goods to serve people, mainly focusing on fruit, vegetables and fresh food. As reported that, fresh livestock and poultry meat increased slightly as compared to the time before Tet.

In general, after Tet, the goods served are not as diverse as before Tet and the number of customers is not much because the shopping has been prepared by city dwellers in advance for the festival.

Prices of technological products, beer, soft drinks and instant noodles are stable. The prices of some items with high demand for the Lunar New Year holidays such as chrysanthemum flowers, fruits, areca and betel nut have jumped by 20-30% as compared to weekdays.

Particularly, Han Market, that serves many tourists, has been open for sale since the first day of Tet with about 500 stalls, accounting for 60% of the total number of market stalls. From the first to the fourth days of Tet, more than 5,000 visitors shopped at this downtown market.

Meanwhile, the Con Market has just reopened on the fourth day of Tet with a few small traders of essential goods such as meat, fish, vegetables and onions. Most of the other small stalls just opened for ‘getting a lucky day’ with a hope of a prosperous trade and then closed. They are expected to resume normal operation after the tenth day of Tet.

Since the early morning of the third day of Tet, January 24, the Tho Quang seafood wholesale market has been operating normally. Some fishing ships and boats bumper to bumper docked at the namesake wharf, togerther bringing freshly-caught seafood to the mainland for sales to traders. These fishing vessels started their offshore fishing journeys before Tet.

According to the Management Board of the Tho Quang fishing wharf, the output of goods recorded in the days leading up to Tet was estimated at 100-200 tonnes/day. During Tet, seafood such as mackerel, tuna, halibut and pompano was consumed a lot, all accounting for about 60% of the total catch.

Mr. Nguyen Lai, the Deputy Head of the Department in charge of the Management Board of Tho Quang fishing wharf, said that over the past time, his unit has regularly reminded fishermen of regulations on maritime security, environmental sanitation, food safety, fire prevention in the waters.

On the occasion of Tet, the city’s administration has spent more than VND 115 billion from the city budget to provide Tet support for social policy families, poor households, beneficiaries of social protection, workers who have lost their jobs and face financial difficulties and other disadvantaged residents, an increase of nearly VND50 billion compared to Tet 2022.
